Out of Africa and back again.

EXCERPT:
Recently, I was fortunate enough to make my second trip to Africa, this time with my dad. We visited GSGC friends in Zimbabwe, and met new friends in Zambia. My dad commented that the beauty of coming back to Africa was that we were more seasoned travelers and we could settle more deeply into our time with the GSGC girls and aunties, and with Smokey and Priscilla. He was right and so I wanted to share some observations of my time there.

Park City High School sophomore’s Seraphine Project helps girls become ‘angels of light’
EXCERPT:
Emily Bronstein wants at-risk teenage girls in Zimbabwe and Zambia to become Seraphine Girls.
The root word “seraph” translates to “burning one” or “angel of light” in Hebrew, and Seraphine is the 15-year-old Park City High School sophomore’s middle name. And Bronstein wants to help these girls become an angel of light in their communities.
“I want them to push themselves and be confident and do whatever they put their minds to,” she said.

Seventh Grader Raises Funds to Help African Girls
EXCERPT:
It's always filled my heart to help others. Up until now, I've mostly gotten involved with local projects such as making some meals for a shelter or doing special things for residents at a home for the elderly. That got me thinking about what I could do beyond my local community, but to be honest, I wasn't sure how to get started. Lucky for me, a family friend introduced me to "Auntie Priscilla," who created an organization to help girls in Africa called Global Sojourns Giving Circle.
GLOBAL SOJOURNS GIVING CIRCLE
A Heart for Girls. A Heart for Africa.

EXCERPT:
My mitzvah is to support vulnerable girls in Zimbabwe and Zambia, age 11 to 18, who want to make better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities.
Last year I created the Seraphine Project with a goal to help change lives one girl at a time. GSGC’s “Clubs” are led by amazing “Aunties” who serve as mentors and role models.
Having visited the clubs, met some of the amazing girls, and seen first-hand what a difference this small but mighty organization is making, my heart is calling me to do even more.
Please join me in helping some really special, at-risk girls stay on the right path to become strong women and future leaders.
